tl:dr
Vil suffers(ed) from a ‘somehow’ diagnosed condition (click here for more about that topic) which causes him to feel not very well on a regular base.

[July 2019 Update: https://www.indy-ca.de/long-time-no-post/]

The “Whipple-Procedure ” needed to be performed. A six-hour procedure, they removed a few organs and rewired Vil’s digestive system with six-month recovery time.

Indy’s BLOG – The status so far…

HOME

Today the landlord stood again in front of the door and demanding something. I couldn’t understand what they where talking about, but one thing is sure; the whole situation smells fishy to me.

We will need to leave the place anyway end of the month and that’s actually quite sad, because the house is very nice and there is enough place for me. Also Badalona is a nice place to live, only twenty minutes with the train and we are in city center.

IF YOU KNOW ANY PLACE WE CAN OCCUPY THE SOFA FOR A FEW DAYS IN FEBRUARY, PLEASE LET US KNOW!

JOB

Today Vil had an interview for a position as a “Business Development Executive” for a big software company in Barcelona. The recruiter sounded quite impressed and Vil is quite sure that they will call back soon for a second interview. Lets cross the claws! 🙂

HEALTH

Vil’s health improved dramatic, in the morning he is not sick anymore, he doesn’t need to take all the pills and that’s very nice to see.

BLOG

Vil is busy rewriting stories, adding more details and media. Now we have around 150 stories in our blog and surely we will continue to write.

Indy’s BLOG – Zugang!

It’s “Tea-Time” again. This morning Vil didn’t feel very well and after a few hours he was so bad that he needed to go to the hospital (again). All was good for several months, but now Vil’s stomach exploded, he was spitting blood and he needs to stay in the Hospital for a few days!

It’s not nice to know what’s actually wrong, what is the cause and how can we avoid new episodes?

Indy’s BLOG – Nearly Dead By Low Battery!

When you are an diabetic like Vil, you need to measure your blood sugar level regularly to ensure that you use the right amount of insulin and for that you use a little battery powered device. Unfortunately batteries die from time to time and when this is the case it might happen that battery powered devices malfunction.

Exactly this happened to Vil and the result was a dangerously high blood sugar level with all the perks like a headache, muscle pain, sweating, nausea with vomiting and, the cherry on the top, a travel via ambulance to the hospital…

Now, after changing the battery, everything is back to normal. Why does this device didn’t notify Vil about the dangerously low battery? We need to make sure this never happens again. We will buy a new device which clearly indicates a low battery.

Not energized!

Indy’s BLOG – Vil’s legs are an issue! [Update]

Vil got a new job and there he needs to wear long trousers as well, but everyone wears nice clothing, so it’s nothing special and Vil is totally ok with it.

Vil got a response from HR, but this guy over there doesn’t give any advise, instead he wants to talk to Vil’s former HR manager. Why that? Vil asked for advise and now this guy takes his own steps without informing Vil.

Not very convincing and another reason to quit.

Hello U.,

when someone asks for advise, you should give advise and nothing more.
I need to say that I am very disappointed about your way handling this situation,
Job trouble is always serious and a problem of existence and you should be aware of this.
You should help and explain your steps and why they are necessary.
You should keep all persons in the loop and make them a partner in solving the issue.
You didn’t keep me in the loop, neither you gave me any advise I asked for.
I didn’t ask you to talk to anyone without me knowing and that’s not building confidence and trust,
U., I don’t want you to take any further steps. Anyway, I quit the job, so the issue is somehow solved now.
Regards,
Vil

Indy’s BLOG – Vil’s legs are an issue!

Today a little story from Vil.

Okay, I admit it, my legs are not the most beautiful ones. They are hairy, cheese colored (not anymore) and my skin is full of little scars. I am a diabetic, my skin doesn’t heal very well anymore and every little scratch leaves a scar. Annoying, but nothing serious you might think, but obviously there is an issue for some people.

I am working as a German and English 1.st level support agent on the phone and I just started a week ago. The training is easy and the job itself is a piece of cake. I thought all is going well until my team lead advised me to wear long trousers because some colleagues see an “issue of private hygiene”. He told me that people take issue on the scars and the plasters on my legs.

WTF, may I ask? That’s embarrassing and somehow also discrimination.

I should wear a trouser because I have scars on my skin! Or, another way around, I am not allowed to wear short trousers, because my legs don’t look “top model” alike! Get a grip, life is not always beautiful.

Maybe, you tell a girl that she shouldn’t wear the short dress, because “she is too fat”? No, you won’t do that!, because that’s discrimination. Where is the difference between me and her?

Now I am considering my options and I might file an official complaint against this kind of treatment.

Obviously, I will not last very long in this team and surely I will continue to look for a decent job. I have no doubt that the perfect position awaits me somewhere out there.

[UPDATE]

After evaluating the situation I know what’s going on. Yes, I do have scars and a discoloration of my skin. Sometimes I need to plaster some spaces because the skin tear from time to time. And that’s all. Nothing serious or infectious.

BUT some of my new colleagues took it a bit too serious and instead of talking to me they went to the team lead and demanded a certificate of health. WTF?

Then it gets even better. The team lead doesn’t talk to me or tries to calm the situation, as you might expect from a good and responsible team lead. NO, he writes an email to my employer and complains about my “personal hygiene” . Double WTF!

I have no idea what he exactly wrote because the mail never reached me.Now I am waiting for someone to approach me and I really hope they will give me a warning written on company paper.

I consider this kind of behaviour as ignorant, stupid and most of all as discrimination

Indy’s BLOG – Many things happened!

This is Vil. Today I will write the BLOG entry because Indy is in a dog hotel and I volunteered to write a post. It’s my first post, so please forgive me my clumsy English.

Many things happened!

Good things first.

I am back from the nearly dead. 10 days hospital in Villadecans, bad hospital food, and many antibiotics, but in the end I am way better. Indy stays in a dog hotel. A dear friend of us arranged an emergency stay for Indy on short notice.

Thank you! Bisous.

And the really good thing:

I DO HAVE A SIGNED WORKING CONTRACT!

  • I have a job!
  • But I still live in my car.
  • I applied for a NIE Number.
  • After that health insurance.
  • Now we can try to settle down in Barcelona.

But we need a place to stay…..

We already check:

Any other idea?

Today I visited a 9 square meter chamber for 470 Euro. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

Nothing more to say for now.

Indy’s BLOG – Vil is sick!

Living outside at the beach, being in the sun the whole day, cooking with a camping stove, living free, all that sounds really nice, but when you are forced to live on the street, live looks completely different. You have no way to escape the scorching heat, after little time all drinks become lukewarm and little things like having a shit become a logistic nightmare.

Today was not a good day for Vil. Vil seems to have caught a really bad cold, he’s got elevated temperature, he is sweating and vomiting. This started this morning when he woke up dripping wet of sweat. He lost a few kilos the last days, was not feeling well, but today is really bad.

Let’s hope he will be better soon, I have him never been so bad and I am really worried about him.
